There's nothing more Tennessee than having a country music concert in a cave, hosted by Jack White. 333 Underground was an invite only show, put on by the State of Tennessee Tourism, Third Man Records, and Bluegrass Underground. I received my invite in the mail via a Third Man Records Vinyl EP Sampler from the artists performing, Margo Price, Lillie Mae, Joshua Hedley, and Craig Brown Band. The show took place at Cumberland Caverns in McMinnville, TN, where the Volcano Room is 333 feet underground, and 333 guests were invited to enjoy the show.
The show gave me a deeper respect for Third Man Records and the artists work, as they try to stay true to the roots of country music. A few highlights from the night were Margo Price performing her unreleased album, "All American Made", Lillie Mae's fiddle skills, Hedley's classic country sound, and Craig Brown Band's unashamed, hillbilly-sounding performance. All of these artists made this night something really special and intimate, and was amazing to hear how Jack White came to hear about the artists and why he signed them to Third Man Records. Be sure to check out the artists and get out to one of their shows!
