my Journal
This summer was one for the books. I spent the majority of the summer learning more about 35mm film photography and working on my process through our few adventures. Most of our adventures this summer were focused around water, so I had to try out a new camera, and like always, experimenting with different film stocks.
One of my favorite things about photography and shooting film is the day it comes back in the mail. To make it even more exciting, I had been buying Jonas his own disposable cameras to take with us on our adventures, and had three of them developed to see what he captures at the age of 2.
As someone who grew up hanging out in smoky bowling alleys, playing bowling alley arcade games, and later on bowling competitively (thanks Mom and Dad), I never really fancy the idea of going to a bowling alley. So when Jonas saw bowling on YouTube (thanks Bucket List Family) he immediately wanted to go. Now some may call it luck, others divinity, and some may say fate… But the same week, I got an E-mail from King’s Bowl in Franklin, TN to bring the family bowling and enjoy some food and drinks. Great.
"Josh has truly been a great partner to work with. He not only captures beautiful photography that makes you want to jump in the car and visit each location, but he’s also extremely professional and easy to work with. No matter the task at hand, his creativity and open-mind pushes the boundaries and accomplishes any project with an impressive result."

"Josh is a gifted photographer who deftly captures the essence of whatever space he is in while bringing a carefree, lighthearted disposition that enlivens the room and the people in it. He has significantly contributed to the overall look, aesthetic, and perception of our brand through his ability to capture the perfect moment of a live performance."

I’ve found myself enjoying the film process more and more. It’s such a blast to get film back and be surprised all over again with the photos you took. This time, I had quite the variety of film sent in, included 2 Ilford disposable cameras, 1 Fujifilm Waterproof camera, 1 roll of Portra 800, and 2 rolls of Ilford SFX 200 (my favorite black and white film lately).
